Map of Kerry - Ireland
The Kingdom of Kerry is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean and counties Limerick and Cork. It has two major peninsulas, Dingle and the Iveragh(also known as The Ring of Kerry). Tralee is the county town, at the northern gateway to the Dingle Peninsula, and the county council administration centre.
The Ring of Kerry is renowned for its beauty and spectacular views. Its coastline is rugged, interrupted by beaches of soft sand and azure seas. The N70 route, the road around the ring, passes though small towns and villages each with its own charm. You are advised to travel around the ring in a clockwise direction.
Killarney is the centre of tourism for the county, and rightly so, with its lakes and views of Ireland's highest mountains, the MacGillycuddy's Reeks.
Dingle town, after whom the peninsula is named, is a fishing port, one of the Ireland's natural beauty spots. Known for its resident tame dolphin "Fungi", it is dotted with art gallerys, craft shops, restaurants and pubs.
